We’re seeking a MASH Education Officer to support a busy MASH team within a local government setting based in the West Midlands.

Your new role

  • To work in a Restorative Manner with all agencies ensuring that we work with families and professionals to improve outcomes for children and young people in Dudley.
  • Promote children/young people’s health and well-being by liaising with education settings.
  • To liaise with Schools and Education settings in gathering and sharing sensitive information, to determine the threshold of intervention to support individual children and their families.
  • Operation Encompass – daily admin, contact Schools & Early Years with notifications and liaise with DSLs to discuss pastoral support with child/YP.
  • To attend MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference) in which information is shared on a high risk domestic abuse cases between representatives and where there are concerns about school aged children living in a household.
  • To record MARAC panel outcome on the child’s electronic case record and feedback to education settings in line with agency information sharing agreement.
  • To attend the DART meetings and to carry out delegated actions from this multi-agency meeting.
  • To be responsible for discussing cases raised at DART and MARAC with Designated Safeguarding Leads in Schools and Education settings and sharing relevant information in accordance with agreed procedures, Terms of Reference and protocols.
  • To present information to MARAC including the child’s voice, whether allocated to Early Help or Social Care and if so name of allocated worker, child’s presentation at school and attendance, impact of DV upon the child, if known.
  • To maintain accurate and effective records and analyse data arising from the DART and Operation Encompass notifications.
  • To develop and keep up to date with specialist areas of knowledge and practice as required.
  • Complete MASH checks with Schools/Early Years settings/CME team/EHE & GRT/Education Admissions (Synergy/Tribal).
  • Engage with schools/Early Years settings and support with threshold pathway and referral process.
  • To demonstrate commitment to undertaking additional areas of responsibilities in line with annual appraisal and continuing professional development (CPD).
  • To comply with legal, government and department regulations (GDPR) and guidance are observed when working on individual cases.
  • To liaise with and establish sound working relationships with other agencies, departments which promote joint working.
  • Collate and present accurate data from DART/Op Encompass/MARAC referrals, themes trends, etc. to SERG and DSL Forum and DSPP.
  • To maintain a high level of working knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures in order to maintain professional competence and decision making ensuring they are adhered to in line with the postholders areas of responsibility.
  • To carry out other duties as and when required.

  • If appropriate to be responsible for the recruitment and performance management of designated teams and individuals in accordance with Corporate and Directorate aims and management style.
  • To comply with the council’s financial regulation and standing orders.
  • To actively promote Dudley’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults at a level appropriate to this group.
  • Employees must comply with health and safety legislation and will be required to comply with the Council’s Health and Safety Policies.   • To be responsible for adhering to legislative requirements and Council Policies and Procedures including, but not exclusively health & safety, Data Protection and Internet/Email use.
  • Special Conditions This post is subject to the DBS checking process.
  • Driving Licence will be subject to checking with the DVLA. It is a council requirement to have Business Use Car Insurance and a valid MOT certificate (For cars over 3 years old).
