An opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practitioner to work in a busy children’s services team in a metropolitan local authority in the West Midlands area.

Your new role

  • You will be a practitioner with a big heart, who role models’ relational practice to support children and young people to achieve the best outcomes and to contribute to continued development of service to provide exemplary social work practice for all children in our care.
  • You will work with children needing the most support and share your expertise with others through modelling, coaching, reflective supervision, and other learning activities.

What you will need to succeed

  • You will be a registered Social Worker with significant experience of working with children and families in a statutory social work setting and experience of supporting others in a social work or social care role, which may include practice education of students or ASYE social workers.
  • You will be dynamic and driven to achieve strong outcomes for our children, skilled in providing support and challenge to colleagues and families and creating change.
  • You must be skilled and experienced in working with children in care or have suitable transferable skills.
  • You need to have strong skills around reunification and supporting children to return home safely, pathway planning, adoption and permanency planning for children and young people to support them to leave the council's care in suitable and safe ways.
  • You will need to support less experienced colleagues with chairing stability meetings, permanency planning meetings and providing practice guidance and support alongside the team manager, whilst managing a caseload so you will also need to be highly organised.
