Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Interim Procurement Lead to support a well known organisation through a major period of change and development.

This opportunity is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys building structure, processes, and governance from the ground up. With no existing procurement framework, contract register, supplier management process, or governance structure in place, you will have the opportunity to shape and embed a sustainable procurement function that delivers lasting value. Working closely with senior leadership, you will assess the current landscape, identify key risks and opportunities, and create a practical operating model that supports the organisation’s future needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a full review of existing third-party spend, supplier arrangements, and procurement activity.
  • Design and implement a procurement function, operating model, policies, and governance framework from scratch.
  • Establish a central contracts register and create visibility of all contractual commitments.
  • Develop supplier databases and supplier management processes.
  • Create procurement policies, procedures, templates, and toolkit documentation.
  • Identify commercial, contractual, and compliance risks across the organisation.
  • Implement contract management and supplier performance frameworks.
  • Develop sourcing and tendering processes aligned to organisational requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Create spend analysis and reporting capabilities to support informed decision-making.
  • Build procurement governance, approval routes, and delegated authority structures.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to improve commercial awareness and procurement maturity.
  • Identify and deliver cost optimisation, value-for-money, and efficiency improvements.
  • Support future planning around procurement resource requirements and operating models.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience leading procurement transformation and greenfield procurement set-ups.
  • A proven track record of establishing procurement functions, frameworks, and governance from inception.
  • Strong knowledge of contract management, supplier management, and procurement best practice.
  • Experience creating contract registers, procurement policies, category strategies, and governance processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work across all levels of an organisation.
  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach, comfortable working strategically while also delivering operationally.
  • Strong commercial acumen and risk management capability.
  • Experience within not-for-profit, public sector, charity, or regulated environments.
